What would you do if, suddenly without warning, you lost your memory? Would you try to recapture your past or leave it behind?
Just a few years ago, this happened to me.

When a friend called to invite me on a cruise, I shockingly heard myself say “yes”. Going on a cruise where I couldn't see land was THE ONE thing I swore I would “never, ever do” because of my intense fear of drowning. During the first night at sea, as the ship struggled against the remnants of Hurricane Noel, I suddenly awoke to discover I had lost much of my memory. But was this a loss or an opportunity; a chance to begin again?

Piecing my life together with broken memories of death and divorce, raging anger and paralyzing fear, I instead chose to awaken a new spirit. This compelling story is one of forgiveness, redemption and reinvention. I confront family love and loss to reclaim the compassion, joy and confidence that was always within me, but was buried by memories of old hurts.
